Behind every dish at Chicken + Tacos is a story built on passion, heritage, and over three decades of craft. Chef Jose Ramirez arrived from El Salvador carrying recipes that had never seen a restaurant menu — only a family kitchen. With 30 years of culinary experience, his reputation speaks for itself: restaurants across the region have personally sought him out to cook for their guests. His range is as wide as his skill — from the deep, slow-cooked traditions of Central America to the bold, crowd-pleasing flavors of American cuisine. When people find out Jose is in the kitchen, they come in just for that.

His wife Angela Lopez brings her own irreplaceable gift. Raised in Guatemala, she learned to cook the way most people learn a mother tongue — naturally, joyfully, and from the very beginning. Her dishes carry the warmth of a home that fed people with love long before it fed them with anything else. Their daughters grew up in that same kitchen, absorbing every technique and every secret, and today they are an active part of what makes Chicken + Tacos feel like no other restaurant on Long Island.
